So I ran into this guy this week while I was at work and we got onto the topic of cigars. He stated his son owned a cigar shop in St Petes Beach Fl. It's called RJ Cigar company. HE said that the cigars are hand rolled in store by our master roller who has over 10 years rolling and blending experience in the Cuban cigar factories and in the USA. The one cigar he told me to try was called a "Daniel A" and that it's a Medium Churchill with the Connecticut wrapper. The guy said that they were great and compared to a CC. Has anyone heard of this company. I have tried to look it up online but no luck finding it or a review of the cigar. The owner said he was going to have one dropped off for me at work so I will try it. Just looking for info.

Met up with John yesterday, and he was kind enough to share one with me. I had a churchill sized stick with a dark wrapper, not sure if it was a Maduro or not. We both loved the flavours of these cigars. Mine was really sweet, and the smoke aroma was amazing. Like gingerbread cookies baking or some sort.

Unfortunately both are sticks were extremely tight. We could hardly draw on these things. Made it a really bad experience.

We both agreed that despite the claim of it being a hand rolled cigar, it seemed far to perfectly uniform and tight like a machine rolled cigar. My thoughts were perhaps it's a half truth, and the machine roll the filler, and then have a guy sit in the store, and hand roll the wrapper on to it.

With about a third left, I was able to pull out a very thin stem in the middle, about 2-3 inches long, and that opened her right up to a perfect draw. John was able to do the same. Too bad the stick was so super heated at this point that both are sticks went bitter on us.

Potential to be an amazing cigar, but that draw made me want to smash it with a hammer.

Thanks for inviting me out for a brew, and sharing one of these with me brother.

Awwww you guys...

Too bad about the draw issues...hate that so much when you really want to enjoy a stick and it just doesn't work out that way....I usually poke a bunch of concentric holes with a toothpick after clipping if the draw is tight. Sounds like a tasty smoke indeed though.

Thanks for inviting the rest of the boys out too john :stickbeat

First of Shaun i am not the one who moved away from the region. Second i sent an invite it's in the mail....lol.... it's too bad the smoke was so tight, it was a little bit of a jaw workout getting a puff. i am not used to those workouts at least not since college....i needed the money. But it was so aromatic, they both smelled and tasted great when you got smoke. thanks for the beers james

i can only say that the one i smoked "daniel a" is 250.00 for 25. james smoked the "RJ Supreme" . not sure how much they are. I have a price list which the owner e-mailed me but not sure if it is appropriate to post it. The two that we smoked were free.

yeah although they tasted great and smelled great, for that price you can get a much better cigar. they would have to fix the tightness issue before i bought one. it was hard to smoke and not too enjoyable because of the tight draw. Having said that keep an eye out for them if one passes you but at a cheaper price and the tightness was solve i'd smoke it again

I got us a road trip idea. I just found a smoke shop in Erie PA, just across the NY border with cheap sticks. I think they have no tobacco tax in PA. Me and a co-worker called for prices, and they were pretty much in line with online retailers, just a bit more expensive. Looks like its about a 2-2.5 hr commute for us Halton/Hamilton area guys.

Sounds interesting.......but if we go to Erie we may as well head to the CI warehouse in Bethlehem (I think) and you can grab your puro authenticos

Now thats crazy. Your talking about nearly tripling the drive. It looks like Bethlehem is on the opposite end of the state. Not worth the extra time and gas to save a buck or two.

You clowns thinking of driving ~3 hours just to buy smokes should really consider sending a message to this guy before travelling anywhere.

He can very likely help you out, and at a very reasonable price. Tell him I sent 'ya.
