I was recently gifted a 3 pack of RyJ Churchill Tubos. They came in their own box and I have no question on the validity of the cigars.

But I'm wondering if there is any way to determine the age of these sticks? The little cardboard pack contains only a bar code (which doesn't match the actual tubos, weird?) ...And so I'm unable to find any dates on the packaging. Is there a resource for referencing the bar codes on the tubos to determine the production year?

A little FYI on the UPC codes....The reason that the barcode on the box is different than the barcode on the tube is that they have a different unit of measure (UOM). When the scanner reads the barcode on the box it tells the system that you are buying a package (3). There is a different barcode on the singles so that the system knows you are just buying one. This allows the retailer to charge the correct price for either a package or a single.

I'm gonna guess they're recent production, say, 2011. I've always suspected the 3 packs to be recent production based on the packaging and the way they go through them. It seems to make the most sense to me.

Just a guess though.

It depends on where you buy them, sometimes these cardboard boxes have more age than dress boxes because they're overlooked. I bought a 15-count of CoRos last year, expecting 2011s and got 2007s.

Makes sense, thanks for pointing that out.
