To any LE that work in that area, take care.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a safety alert to law enforcement officers in west Texas warning of retaliatory killings by a Mexican gang. (DHS Alert, March 22, 2010). The DHS alert advises officers in the El Paso area to change up their routes to and from work and to wear body armor while on duty, because the gang may issue a “green light” to murder law enforcement officers in the area. It also suggests that the lawmen pay special attention to any unusual activity. (Id.).

Thats tough when gangs operating inside prison walls are putting hits on officers and their families outside of prison. Seems to be becoming an epidemic in recent years

What the mexican gangs are forgetting - Texans (not just the police, but us 'regular' folks) are VERY well armed...there's very little restrictions on firearms in your vehicle and a growing number of Texans are CHL and pack heat regularly. It's not Mexico where only the gangs/police are armed. I do hope that these gangs find themselves on the "wrong" end of a firearm (well, it'll be the "right" end from the perspective of the good guy for sure!).
