Diplomaticos #2
Origin: Cuba
Size: Piramide
Length: 6.125
Gauge: 52
Box code: ARA JUN 01

This Piramide was beautifully constructed. The wrapper was a light brown, quite a bit lighter than many of the Habanos I smoke. The wrapper was quite veiny and the veins, large. In spite of that, the cigar just looked "right". The pre-light aroma was quite strong and the pre-light draw was perfect. I have smoked several of these now and must say, they are absolutely superb.

The #2 lit evenly and put out great quantities of smoke. The burn only had to be corrected twice and did not impact the smoking experience whatsoever. This cigar was a delight an all aspects. The "twang" on the #2 was among the strongest I have experienced. It was another of those that you keep waving under the nose just to smell the incredible smoke. This is a cigar of medium strength and complexity, but the taste is so superior, I just cannot seem to get enough of this stick. I do not nub cigars as a general rule, but I actually smoked this vitola until I was burning my fingers. I just could not get enough of the wonderful taste.

These are highly recommended. They seem to be getting hard to find, but if you can land some of these with close to 5 years on them, do it! You will not be disappointed. This vitola is a true flavor bomb!

I have quite a few of these and pick them up every chance I get. I love this cigar! My wife comments on the smell (loves it) each time I light one up. Nice Review!

I wasn't as excited about this smoke as some BOTL's. The two I had were well constructed and pretty to look at but smoked flat. Maybe it was just the two I got ahold of.

I just get straight, clean tobacco from these with may'be a little nutty taste mixed in. Not too inspiring for me.

CVM that's exactly what I was thinking about this smoke. I wasn't sure if it was a light nutty or toasty base but the two I had were very flat.

Were they young, Doc? I have heard this about younger versions. This batch would have been five years old next month.

This is one of my all time favorite Havanas.

I have a box from '98 that is just outstanding. Like all Cubans, this cigar needs time to develop it's intended characteristics. (Especially with retailers all over the world receiving the youngest cigars in history from Cuba.) Any of you brothers who posted replies who has a younger box (less than 3 years) I would definitely re-visit this gem sometime in the future.

This is a far more flavorful than the Monte #2, and worlds better as far as construction. (The Monte #2 has had a history of plugging and other problems related to poor constructiion and/or improper fermentation)

Plus the Diplomaticos line is friendlier to the wallet!
