I know last year the Cubans killed off a lot of cigars in their lineup, including getting rid of a lot of CABs. Does anyone know of any they are planning on getting rid of in 2013. Last year they took down so many so maybe that was it for a while. I'm just hoping it's not an every year thing...

People need to start buying more regular production cigars and stop chasing REs/LEs. I know I am guilty of chasing those overly priced cigars as well, but I now am buying 5 boxes of regular production before I buy a box of REs or LEs. Will this have any impact? Of course not. But I am doing my best to try and spread the word to people to buy more regular production sticks!

Their sales were up again for the second year in a row. My gues is they'll keep knocking off more cheap reg production smokes and make more LEs with the same tobacco. Prett damn ingenious if u ask me.... Keep buying those behikes and LEs!

Damn. I didn't even think about this. What a damn shame..... getting rid of some of the best reg productions just for profit. Shit...

Much though I love some of the sticks that have been discontinued in recent years--why else do you think Habanos S.A. makes cigars if not for the profits?? People get wrapped up in the marketing, but the storied history of various marcas means jack to HSA. If they could roll nothing but CoRos all day and kill off every other brand and vitola and make more money...that's exactly what they'd do.

The only way we as a community can respond is to buy good cigars and ignore the flash. If quality cigars are what drive sales rather than flashy marketing, we'll get better cigars.

I know they're about profits I just thought Cubans cared more about the product. Oh well. Ride out the storm I guess and hopefully quality for a (somewhat) reasonable price will prevail........i hope..

Talk so far that I've seen is the RASCC and Diplo #2, maybe the Partagas 898. All those are crazy to me...

I'm a newb to the CC world (about to make my first purchase) and even just through research I know you can't get rid of those. They already have like no piramides, almost nothing in the RA lineup and an 898. Frick these guys are crazy... they only have 6 torpedoes in the current rotation by my count, including the new Cohiba. What the hell?

They are considering getting rid of the box of 10 of 898s (Actually 343s:grin:) Probably due to expensive box for only 10 cigars. I haven't bought a box of ELs since 2008.

Although it is just speculation at this point I actually see why they are going to cut out the RASCC. I think the popularity of the RASS really hurts the sales of the RASCC. I understand it's a business, and it would make no sense for any business to produce a product that does not move off the shelves.

True. I have been reading that the RASS is much more popular. People seem to love that stick. And I guess even if something is good, if it's not AS good as another, then maybe cut production of it and focus on the other.

Yet people on other forums are lamenting that RASCCs are very hard to find now. At least among the cigar forum community, RASCC is a very popular cigar.

I really doubt the RASS is hurting RASCC sales in reality. Two very different formats, different smoking times, different strength profiles, etc. Not saying HSA won't use that as an excuse, they are a-holes.

RASCC are sold out within hours of any vendor getting stock...I don't know why HSA would even consider cutting them.

With many other vitola that have been cut in recent years, you could often find box codes 2-4 years old in stock. Not the cae with RASCC.

I'd be surprised if RASCC were cut, it seems popular and in line with HSA's move toward smaller cigars (see the HU Half Corona for example).

If they're going to cut a cigar from Ramon Allones, wouldn't it be the Gigantes? Does that cigar really have a constituency?
