After getting a sampler that included 5 Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic Robustos, I have decided I finally found the (nearly) perfect cigar for me. I love the flavor, draw, burn, look and feel of these but often wish they were a little longer.

So, I am thinking of getting a box (my first box of any cigar). For just a few bucks more I can get the Toros, which would fill my desire for a slightly longer cigar. But, I'd love to hear an opinion from someone who likes the Black Labels and has smoked both as whether there is a significant flavor difference. My local B&M does not stock DPG and I hate to pay shipping on a 5 pack just so I can test them out first. Eventually I may want to stock both sizes, since I do sometime want a shorter smoke, but with winter approaching my smoking becomes pretty infrequent as I do not smoke inside my house, so a box of 20 along with the smokes I already have will last well into the spring.

Also, any experience with tobaccolocker.com? They seem to have the best price on these and free shipping (over $75) to boot.

All opinions and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Well, I love the robusto too. Personally, I think the toro has less flavor. I also think the corona especial has more flavor than the robusto.

It's a great line, though, so I'd recommend another couple 5ers before you get a box. Get a 5er of toros, some more robustos, and if you can find them the corona especial (1977).

I've had the toro and the robusto and both are great. I've not had the corona gorda so cannot comment, but you can't go wrong with anything in the black line IMHO. If it were me I'd snag some robustos, but that's cause they're my favorite size.

If you take the plunge on the box of toros and then find them to be less than what you are looking for, you could hypothetically trade/sell them via the trade forum...

Thanks for the input. After going back and forth a few times, I finally decided on getting a box of the robustos ($87) and a 5 pack of the toros ($29) from TobaccoLocker.com.

They include free 2nd day shipping on orders over $75. I'll follow up on the service and condition once they arrive.

OK, so I got the cigars in two days as promised. I was a little concerned because they used Priority Mail, which is actually a 2-3 day delivery (I am an internet retailer and distributor so I ship a lot of packages).

I am a little concerned because the cigars from tobacco locker are darker than the ones from CI and the bands are quite different. The cigar on the left is from tobacco locker and the one on the right is from CI. They are both embossed, but the one from CI is much more deeply embossed. I am assuming they are probably just from different years (the box from TL is stamped 29 Jul 2008), but I'd appreciate your input.

Wrapper colors vary all the time, so that is not an issue. The band on the left is the old band from 2 years ago. Band on the right is the band used on the current production.

I am confidant you are right, I just tried one of the "new" ones from 2008 and it was pure DGP! They will definitely benefit from some time in the humidor though to round out the edges a bit. I finished it 2 hours ago and the spice is still with me!

You got lucky getting the old box. This line improves with age and yours already have a couple years. I bought a box of the 1952 recently and had to scour the web for an '08 box.
