That would be the simple way of putting it. I don't think ice can chill a bottle of beer that fast though....

Per the Hammacher ad:

"The process begins when you add ice and water to the unit and turn it on."

I don't see any other forces at work here. I'd be interested to see a real life test. Take a non-chilled six pack ... open one up and measure the temp. Then put another in this device for 60 seconds ... open it and measure the temp. I'd bet that the contents of the cooled can was not close to 38 F.

It works by keeping super cooled water circulating. As long as the water keeps moving, it won't freeze. I saw one of these in a wine store once. They provided it as a customer service. You really only want to cool the wine to between 45 and 50 degrees, anyway.

Pretty neat if you have money to burn or are the kind of person that can't plan ahead and chill the stuff before hand. :rofl:
Just as a side not. My liquor store has a wine/bottle chiller in the store that chills stuff ultra quick. No spinning just a tank of water that is chilled really cold. Convient for the many beers they sell warm or white wines.
