Just got the new E. P. Carillo 2012 New Wave Connecticut Short Run sticks.
This is the first Short Run with a Connecticut wrapper,it has the binder and filler of the Maduro Core line with the wrapper from the New Wave line.

There are three sizes,a 4 7/8 x 50 Exquisitos,a 5 7/8 x 52 Invictos,and a 6 1/4 x 60 Reinados.

The msrp is $6.35 to $8.60 along the line,of course before local taxes, well within the comfort range for most of us.

There will be 1000 boxes of each size made, boxes of 24.

I am looking forward to trying these,as I am a shameless Carillo fan,and I will try to get a review posted soon.
Many thanks to Ernesto,Ernie, and Lisette for their excellent work.....

I also have an interest in these. Like to know how it compares to 2010.
I have smoked a few in the robusto size and it is a different animal than the 2010. It is the core line maduro blend with a New Wave wrapper. I thought they were excellent and Ernie told me he thought it was their best Short Run they've produced.

Exquisitos (robusto) - good stick. Personally, too spicy especially 2nd half. Definitely not a morning / before breakfast smoke. Good dried fruit / woody / coffee flavors. Looking forward to Invictos (toro) experience.

Looking forward to trying this! I love the other SRs, especially the 2010 petite robo (haven't tried the 2010 corona from Federal yet).

Could it be the fact you are smoking Pre-release samples? I found with the New Wave they went south pretty quick after the first third when fresh. 6-8 months later it was more balanced and less biter towards the finish.

Hmm... Core Line Maduro filler with New Wave wrapper? Isn't the Core Line Maduro filler the same as the normal Core Line? I thought they just had different wrappers.
