Saw a great looking stick that Larry bombed Danthebugman with a few days back.

It was an El Cobre...Did a bit of digging, and it appears to be right up my alley in terms of flavor profile, et al!

I ordered a sampler from Famous, but in the meantime I thought I'd see if anyone had any comments on this brand. (Didn't find any reviews)

Thanks for any feedback!

Pretty good Maduro Clint. I smoked on recently. It's made by oliva and i don't know why but i thought they were made exclusively for empire (larry's shop) but
if you ordered them from famous that's obviously not the case...

Maybe Larry can chime in...

ive had them before and they were in my top ten for a few years. i havent had one in a while but i have a few with 4 or so years of age on them. very much worth a try if you have been a fan of Oliva products in the past.

back when i got them, they were still known as one of the most powerful cigars on the market. since then the market has been flooded with fuller bodied stuff. i would still put it in the full range but not much more than the Oliva Serie V.

its no LFD DL Maduro.

I bought a fiver from a brother on this board last year and thought they were very good. At the time when I smoked the first one it was the strongest cigar I had tried but now it seems strong cigars are now the in thing.

I really enjoy them; strong, tasty and a good bang for the buck. I think the draw on these cigars are bit too tight (I smoke the torpedoes) though. I never seem to get enough smoke out of them. It could just be the torpedo. I should try another size.

I like to use my v-cutter on torpedos, it seems to open them up nicely

I'll have to try that. The El Cobre's just seem too damn tight. I like a large volume of smoke and they don't produce for me. The flavor is outstanding though, so I keep trying.
el cobres are ligero heavy and are very oily. ligero does not combust as "easily" as other leaves. oily cigars dont burn as well either. this combo can make it feel like a difficult draw.

if you keep your rh a bit lower like 65% to 68% this may clear up some of the burn draw issues. I have had no problems with el cobres since i got my rh down to 67%
