Ever lose your palate?

Granted Ive been sick but it seems like for at least a few weeks I haven't had the same sense of taste Ive had in the past. Its preventing me from smoking my good cigars to a point.
I know the palate goes to crap when you get sick but does it start before you get sick and how long does it stay gone for some of you fine folks?

usually lasts about a week for me. Kids have already brought home two rounds of illness this year so I've been back and forth. I usually start with something I know I like, solid medium, something that I know the flavors of pretty well. It'll take a few days, even a week, to get it back. A few years ago, I took a few weeks off and grabbed an illusione something or another, it kicked my butt, not a good idea.

I recently lost mine at thanksgiving.. Couldn't taste a thing but it came back within the week, my retro is still funked up a little though.

I lost it for a while after my surgery, couldn't taste anything for probably 3 month's. Finally started coming back in July and I would say I have it about 90% back now. Still miss a couple things here and there. Prescription meds really tend to mess with your palate... Hell, any meds mess with it.
