I am smoking a Monte4 (old band, old fleur de lies) that may or may not be fake. However I am enjoying it.

Has anyone else ever enjoyed a fake CC?

Edit: oops sorry, just realized the title said one you LIKED... LOL

I smoked a couple, both from my father in law bringing some home from his vacations to Costa Rica and St. Thomas. I obliged him and smoked the one from St. Thomas which wasn't terrible. I was very hesitant to smoke the one from Costa Rica but did so anyway. It was pure crap. Luckily we were sitting in my back yard across each other from my table and I kept my cigar out of view while pretty much pretending to take puffs. It got dark enough then where I just let the cigar go out.

That is the last time I will smoke a fake... just not worth the try. I have had numerous discussions about fakes with my FIL and if he ever tries to give me another, I will politely decline and have the fake discussion with him again. Thing is that he isn't in denial that they are fakes, I think he just gets excited to get a deal on "cuban cigars" when he's on vacation and then he comes back to earth when he gets home and just doesn't care they are fake. To each his own, but I won't be smoking them again and I will keep talking to him about fakes with hopes that he won't give his money to crooks fueling the fake empire.

Smoked half of a "Cohiba Esplendido". Construction was poor, veins everywhere, band was definitely fake. Chucked it.

A while back my buddy picked up some montes and cohibas that now we figured out were fakes when we look back at the bands. We enjoyed the hell out of them though when we didn't know any better. The fake monte #2s were the best, lol.

Last time I was in Mexico, I was at this resort and I bought a Bolivar Tubo that I thought was probably a good looking fake, and it was (the tube itself looked excellent, but the reason I think Tubos are faked so much is because they know you can't see the cigar that way!). However, it was definitely Cuban tobacco, and it was a decent smoke. I think it was probably a peso cigar, a cheap but decent mixed-filler smoke. I wouldn't buy it again NOW, but at the time it was nice since I didn't have any cigars with me.

Went to Jamaica this year for vacation. Low and behold our last two days were crappy because of hurricane sandy, that passed over the island. As the storm approached the cigar shops in Negril closed up. A small place next to the resort was selling cugars. I wont lie, the bands look legit. I bought two cohibas for 7 bucks a piece. They werent bad smokes IMO.

In 2005 I was in Nassau, and some guy was selling Esplendidos on the beach. He started at $30 apiece. I knew they were fake, but was curious so I got him down to 3 for $15. ($5 apiece).

Smoked one on the hotel patio, and it was Cuban and failrly decent, just not Cohiba....but not bad at all for a five dollar smoke.

I have a box of 'Esplendidos' that was gifted to me that I'm 99% sure is fake, but one of these days I'll light one up and give it a go anyway.

Might want to dissect one first, Brent....we have had some CoRo fakes that contained items that were nothing you would want to smoke....hair, string, plastic, and other non-organic materials.

Yes. Even had them checked and in some cases was told that the construction was "too good" but still burned well, dark grey ash and a great flavor....until I smoked it back to back with authentics... So had I paid 50 or 75 for the box? I'd buy em as a daily. Good smoke just wasn't a Romeo. Almost like bikers say you ain't a rider til u been down... Ur not a smoker till you've been duped by a counterfeit lol all part of the process as far as I'm concerned

never hurts to have some good people you trust behind you (like this board!), but you got a point there, man. o)

in all honest, one of the reasons i joined here and finally stopped lurking was to get advice on a box of fakes my friend had. at the end of it, he wound up with a box of smokables and wasn't out a significant amount, so we are chalking it up as a win. although i have told my guy, there have been instances where he shares them out and has asked me to keep my yap shut, and i don't have a big issue with that. they can still be shared and enjoyed.

I take the bands off and share. If it has the dark grey ash and appears to be cuban tobacco I say they're Cubans. I just don't give em the credit as being whatever they were billed as. They sit In a separate humidor and I let them have at it. The authentics sit elsewhere lol

I bought a fiver of "glass top Cohibas" last time I was in Mexico. At that point I'd probably only smoked 10 cigars in my life and thought they were the real deal. I thoroughly enjoyed them!
