sorry the picture isnt the greatest. it is a very small cigar. about a skinny as a cigarette. the band is different than what im used to too. in stead of the cohiba yellow, it is almost orange. the lettering is also a dull gold and not raised. the lettering of Habana Cuba looks like someone wrote it on with a pen. all in all, it just reeks of being fake.

Too far from the mountains
a buddy from work recently got back from vacation in mexico and brought me back a cigar.
I think that about sums it up.

I can't see the photo well, but from your description of the band, it's not real, although I am by no means an authority. Be interesting to dissect it.

I certainly would not tell him though. The old adage of "It's the thought that counts" applies here.

I dont know... does not look to legit to me, but then again the picture quality is not all that great.

It would be interesting to see a close up of the band, it would help a bunch in determining its authenticity. But then again, your buddy did just get home from Mexico...

It looks like a cigar with an older band. Can't really tell but if you have to ask...it's probably not the real deal.
Real or not, it shouldn't really matter if it was gifted to you though. Atleast your buddy was thinking of you and muled back something for you.

I wouldn't burst his bubble unless he asks.

Can't tell by the pic, but considering it's source, where 99% of the "Cubans" are fake, odd are....well, you already know what the odds are.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, that's for sure.

Is it triple capped? I can't tell from the pic, does it match up with a known Cohiba vitola?

One sure way to tell....smoke it. Let us know how it works for you.

like i said, ive got some cohibas from some pretty reliable sources and the band from this one doesnt even come close. but the bands from the ones i know are legit are from fairly recent years.
from the moment i laid eyes on the smoke i thought "fake". my buddy said he bought 2 and smoked one but said it "tasted like sucking a fart thruough a straw". i might just smoke (or at least attempt to) smoke it later on tonite.
and some of your advice holds true. my buddy new i liked cigars and have had cubans. he seemed so proud that he got me this cigar and since he's not hardcore into cc's (or nc's) i figure id let it slide.
personally i wanted to know you opinions just to verify the fact that i COULD be able to tell the difference between a real and "fake" cc.
