Ive recently noticed an increase in the amount of fake Cuban inquiries around cigars forums. With Cohiba being the subject of the majority of these fake or fine posts. 2016 saw an increase in the purchase of Cuban cigars by Americans & vendors on the web as a direct result of the US Govts effort to improve relations with Cuba. The loosening of travel restrictions also had an impact but to a lesser degree, most of the bulk purchasing was done by companies with larger capital. Cohiba was the prime target and sold out with many vendors. An increase in demand and decrease in supply pushes prices higher and invites counterfeiters. These newer fake Cohiba labels are getting very good and in the last week I have seen two fake Cohiba Churchill Limitadas in my B&M that had me fooled, almost. This seems to be one of the more popular fakes. The only Cohiba EL with the new holographic band was the Robustos Supremos. Based on previous experience with fakes it is most likely these are being made with low grade Honduran tobacco. Please be careful and only purchase from trusted vendors. Enjoy in good health.
