Hello everyone I need advice and recommendations, I have friends of family traveling to Cuba and they offered to pick up some sticks, they wont have the ability to call me or look up what they are buying so, can anyone offer first recommendations then maybe a quick non smokers guide to cubans haha I know that this last thing is near impossible to explain to someone in a quick period but I dont know where to start any advice would be gratefully appreciated!
thanks in advance!- Brandon

What we always do for non 'cigar familiar' people when they travel is: Google the addresses of the LCDH's near where they're staying. Provide them with those, and the phone numbers. Tell them ONLY to buy from there and nowhere else. Avoid tourist traps and guys whose cousins 'work at the factory'. Give them a list of well known 'staple' cigars that the shop will for sure have stock of (Monte 2's, PSD 4's, Cohiba Robustos etc).

That's been pretty failsafe for us when friends travel.

First of all Brent is spot on in his post above... make sure they only buy from the LCDH (La Casa del Habano) shops. Make certain they don't buy from people in the streets or at tourist stands/shops.

If you want, PM me where they are staying and I can offer some suggestions. Each of the major LCDH shops has their own custom cigar rollers that are world famous and those are some of the best cigars in the world... cheap too. We're talking great cigars from $3.50-$8 each. If they are staying close to any of the major shops I would consider asking them to get you customs. But that might a little too confusing for them and is probably easier to stick to the basics. Just depends on what you want.

Hey you can tell them to only shop at at LCDH... But they will inevatibly buy from a guy on the street.. Happens every time!

Good luck trying to smuggle even unbanded cigars back from Cuba!
