I had some time to mess around in my shop this Fathers Day, between smoking some great sticks and watching the Open I decided to make something I have never done before.
Since I have this new hobby I decided to make myself an ashtray, I left it square and turned the inner, routed the troughs and the edges. It is English Walnut and ebony @ 7 3/4" square. The picture is low quality, the tung oil is not dry yet and I did not want to handle it too much. once I get a few more coats and seal it I might repost. and yes the troughs are different sizes as I smoke almost all different ring gauges.
I have a similar square in Brazilian cherry I will try something similar with.
