Looking for recommended smoke shops with: comfortable lounge areas, great ambiance, and knowledgable service.

Tessa is a personal favorite, followed by Jack Schwartz, even though you'd be lucky to find a seat.

Iwan Reis, Blue Havana(I think they have a lounge), Burning Leaf, Cigars & More(Libertyville & Long Grove), Casa de Montecristo(Countryside), Cigar King(Skokie) and Cigary(Wilmette). All of these are nice and they are either in the city or outside of it and there are actually a quite a few others.

My main go to spot is Casa de Montecristo in Countryside. Nice little lounge upstairs and the Members Only Lounge is amazing but I've yet to travel down there because I dont want to tease myself. I also used to frequent Belicoso in Orland Park (until it mysteriously closed down and rumors started to spread as to why-I did hear its opened back up though).

Burning Leaf is a great spot with awesome selection BUT its really not that close to "Chicago." My ONLY beef with Burning Leaf is the first time I went there I was told I had to either purchase a certain number of cigars OR be a member in order to use their lounge. I'm sure if you PM Tim he will grant you a guest pass ;o)

Another nice spot with a GREAT lounge, nice atmosphere and OK selection is the Cigar Lounge in Woodfield (right outside the mall).

I haven't been to any in the city limits but I really want to make a trip to Tessa since its only about 20 min from my house...that is without traffic...so realistically its more like 45min away, lol.

I'm organizing our 2nd Annual Cigar Crawl for my Dad's bday. We'll be hitting up some of the lounges in the burbs. I'll post about it in the appropriate section in case anyone wants to meet up with us.

Burning Leaf! (I may be a little biased though....:stretchgr)
I never would have guessed!! LOL:stretchgr

I really enjoyed the "Burning Leaf" when I was there and I've heard amazing things about "Casa de Montecristo", although I've never been there. Both of these are Members only but I think they might accommodate you anyways.

Intoduce yourself here...http://www.botl.org/community/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23

Casa De Montecristo is my home away from home, not to mention only about 15 minutes away. If anyone is ever in the area and want to check the place out, lmk! You won't find a nicer lounge, and their selection is amazing!

I have had great experiences at Casa de Montecristo (there are areas to smoke for non-members there), Jack Schwartz and Cigar King.

Had negative experiences with management twice at the Cigar Lounge in Schaumburg, I will not be going back.

I have yet to visit Burning Leaf, but I look forward to changing that in 2011.

Been a while since I've been back to Chitown. The 3 I used to visit were Iwan Ries, Schwartz and Rubovits. I know Rubovits is long gone. Iwan Ries is and has always been my shop in Chitown. Again, this was waaay before the Leaf and Tesa. G1

My only knock on Iwan Ries - they close way too early! Otherwise, it's an awesome place. They do have a great members lounge - and you can get a guest pass.
