Okay, so I'm hoping to burn my first Viaje at the next opportunity (today or tomorrow). I believe it's an Oro Chico.

So I'm wondering--what are your favorite regular-production Viajes? I don't want to hear how awesome all the stuff was that I missed, lol, just thinking about the 3 main lines.

Agree with the above on the Platino...

Although I've never had the Lancero, I'm a big fan of the Chiva.

BUT, I do reserve the right to change my "favorite" vote once I dig into the 50/50 #1's that are on the way ;).

Both of the original lines with some time on them are pretty good, the only 1 that does not really do it for me is their "toro" size, which I just find too big for my liking.
Everything else they have is pretty damn good!! The gold was not all that when I first tried it, but after about 6 months it came together for me. The platinum was always a good smoke.

If anyone is looking for the regular line I got a 40% off hook-up at a store, so PM me for the info. (all with about a year age on em :) )

I had my first Viaje, a Platino Fino yesterday. It was a great smoke. They remind me of the Pepin Black. Just a nice clean tobacco flavor, a little spice, and leather.

I think they would smoke even better with atleast 6-12 months rest like Danilo commented... but they are still very nice fresh out the box. Medium in strength and while not a palate buster, still alot of flavor.

I'm another one that just loves the Platino Lancero and any size of the Viaje 50-50, preferrably the No. 1 (5 5/8" x 46)! :cbig:

well it sounds like I need to find me some of the Platino Lanceros.....

I was acctually unaware that Viaje had any regular production smokes. I thought they were all limited editions.

Also WTF? How did I not know they had a Lancero
?

the 50/50 is a mix of both oro and platino blends. it's rolled in a fashion where the first half is 1 blend and the second half is the other.

i heard the lancero's might not be rolled anymore, or very limited.

if u want the blends in an already aged package, look for the oro or platino reserva. it's box pressed and the tobacco has been aged a few years (not sure how many)

Most tobacco is of some age when it is rolled, but I doubt that the "reserva" line is any more aged or refined than the rest.... They have not been around all that long... and even though there is aged tobacco out there, I doubt they got there hands on any really aged stuff for this.
Don't get me wrong, they make a good cigar, but it's not one of the wonders of the cigar world.

Slow Burn,
If I am not mistaken the 50/50 is not related to either the Platino or Oro blends. It is a cigar that is meant to increase in strength at the halfway point, hence 50/50. There is a noticeable change in strength as you smoke one. I don't find the strenth difference between the Platino and Oro's to be as significant as in the 50/50. I will confirm this with Andre and post the result.
