My experience is all of the "thousands" padrons age exceptionally well.. and after a couple of years start to profile more closely to their more expensive "anny" series big brothers.. YMMV.. but, I believe I've heard a few others that are paddy fans here say they get the same results..
For me, I only buy the 2000's and the londres maduros... those are just what I prefer.. the other "thousands" are the same stick.. just longer vitolas.. and slightly bigger RG as you go up in numbers (2000 is a 5x50, 3000 is a 5 1/2x52, etc... ).. but Ive smoked just about all of them at one time or another both maddy and naturals..
I dont recall ever smoking a "thousands" padron that I thought was "sick"... doesnt mean it doesnt happen.. I just havent experienced it.. Ive smoked them ROTT.. smoked them after leaving them in the humi for a few months... etc... never a problem.. but typically I buy a box every couple of years.. and just put them in the bottom of the humi and forget about them.. once I crack that box.. Ill go buy another one to replace it.. and will spend the next year or two smoking though it while the new box ages....
two or three times a year Ill grab a single at a B&M as well.. just to have as a quick/cheap smoke... again.. nothing at all wrong with these sticks fresh... theyre worth every penny of their very affordable price IMO ROTT... I just have found that if you give them a while, the flavors become more defined.. and youll get more of the profile that the 1926 stick brings (which is made with 5 year aged tobacco.. whereas the "thousands" sticks are supposedly made with very similar tobacco.. but only 1.5 years aged before being rolled..)...
