Forgive my noobness, but what's all the hoopla over the Flying Feral Pig? These things are commanding over MSRP on auction sites...are they that good?

For over MSRP? Not much over.
I've got to agree with you. It's hard for me to say that there are many cigars out there that are worth over a $16 MSRP. It's a solid stick and if you haven't had one I'd say its worth up to $20 to give it a whirl, but I wouldn't pay more than a dime over MSRP + tax on a box, IMO its simply not worth it. Not for what that kind of money can get you, at least.

Wouldn't pay over msrp for it myself but then again I didn't have to when I bought my boxes. They're gone now but I don't find myself searching for more.

Watched an auction yesterday where there were 30 singles up for bid, and folks were bidding as high as $22.50 a stick, for multiple sticks, just to get some.

I'm all for the merchant making his, but I have to wonder if there is something to this process, where the product is hyped up and offered in limited supply, causing a mad scramble to grab what can be found for WAY more than it's worth.

I saw this happen in the industry I'm employed in with semi-automatic rifles and ammunition when there was a shortage scare.

Just not interested in "fighting" to get these cigars at a ridiculous price when there are so many others out there to enjoy.

The price on the FFP tends to get inflated due to the limited production, if you are patient you can find them at MSRP. Many retailers get a box or so every month or two, so they are available without having to overpay for them.

I'll keep checking my local B&M, as well as an online source I was able to procure the 9 and 52 from for a decent price, but ain't no way I'm dishing out $22.50 for a $16.00 stick just because it's the perceived Holy Grail.

Funny I've also been searching for them the last few days but I'm not willing to pay over MSRP at this time. Guess it's just trimming and a bit of luck until I find them.

I will say this, I actively hunted them this past spring, and I was able to get 3 boxes within a few weeks of each other. Just subscribe to the liga and daily deals thread, do it another forum or two and just check a few sites when I popped online.

They're nice, and I enjoy them, but my smoking desire has gone a different direction.

I still have enough left to last me, and if I run across them, I wouldn't say no to a box, but not at a premium. More because they're a buddies favorite and I need a box for his bachelor party this summer.

They're worth a try. I used to like them a lot, but the ones I've had lately didn't wow me. My palate has changed though.

I haven't had a normal FFP. but the T-52 and no.9 pigs are excellent. From what I have seen if you keep your eyes open you can find them for a decent price.

Forgot what MSRP was. No, they are not worth $16. That's 1.5 wetpacks or Pepin 10ths if you get a decent deal.

I know opinions are like buttholes, butt, I don't think the FFP's are worth all the hoopla. Not a bad cigar, I just enjoy many cigars way more that are not HTF and half the price.
