Hey, another Washington guy!

Sounds like a nice system! My son has something quite similar to yours. My son is a designer for Guild Wars 2, and when he gets done designing all day he spends all night playing other games. At least that couch time when he was in high school did not go to waste!

SSD? Things are so damn cool and load everything up super fast. I built a desktop earlier this year. By no means the best ever but it runs the few games I play on max settings flawlessly.

Congrats on the new rig, bro! I've always admired Alienware, never been an owner, though. But I sure have specced them out and put them in a shopping cart plenty of times (and then wished for $4k, lol).

15" Retina Display Macbook Pro
2.6GHz quad i7
16GB ram
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
512GB Flash hd

0.71 inches thick
4.46 pounds

The display is MUCH better than I was expecting. Almost surreal. Very engaging and makes you feel more engrossed. And an all-flash-memory computer is SO much faster! I wish I'd switched to all flash long ago. I've already bought a SSD for my wife's computer, need to install that soon.

I do wish I had something a bit beefier than the 1GB GT 650M, but it's running everything just fine and is not worth the extra $$$ and 15-pounds to me (especially considering I'd have to give up the retina display). Besides, by the time I feel like this card is too slow, I'l hopefully have built a desktop.

Though I will admit, that glowing Alienware head is a draw for me :)

My top of the gaming laptop from 2006:

2.0Ghz Dual Core (Intel)
2Gb RAM
120Gb HDD
16'' Tru-display monitor
Windows XP

Times have changed and I don't play computer games anymore. Even so, I still use that PC everyday and it performs flawlessly :)
