Well...I finally got popped. Got the letter 2 days ago, mind you they found em in april. Won't be using ... for awhile. Sought a lawyer friend, best plan of action is to ignore the letter.

I do have a question though.

Is there "a list"? I.e. if you get a letter, does the man screen imports to your address? I'd imagine that wouldn't be easily done, would require 100% screening on incoming goods at port of entry.

Still, I'd lay low after a letter.

I feel your pain! I "lost" a few boxes earlier this year. Most vendors will replace your order if you submit your letter to them. In my case they were htf aged boxes and sadly they could not be replaced. Some agent in Florida is smoking some nice cigars right now is all I can say...sorry to hear of your loss!

I have a friend who got two Customs letters. Made him switch vendors. Since then he has ordered successfully from both the new and the old vendor. There is no "naughty" list that Customs keeps, or my friend would surely be on it.

I lost a box to NY customs in May. Fortunately it was just a box of H. Upmann half coronas and the vendor replaced it no questions asked. It was my 7th order so I'm thankful it didn't happen the first few times or I would be gun shy to even keep trying. What I am going to do is limit my orders to one box at a time.

As I understand it, the first vendor was using bright yellow packaging. Probably easy for customs to pull similar looking packaging for closer inspection after finding one. The second vendor used more discreet packaging. The first vendor has since also changed packaging.

not the vendor,I have had numerous letters among 5 different vendors.Letters show up 60 to 90 days after seizure.......
Worst times are Thanksgiving to Christmas, January and Fathers day.
Those yellow letter packs are still in use,two vendors I use still use them......using a good vendor insures you will get a replacement
