I'm sure u r all seeing the news and what is going on in Northern CA.
here is a lil inside scoop of what is really happing http://www.nifc.gov/nicc/sitreprt.pdf I have been so busy in the last week, sending Fire Fighter to CA. out of my area along we have sent 25 Fire Engine Crews (3 people on each engine) and this morning at 6:00 am a Jet load (737) flew out of Duluth airport with 5 (five) 20 person hand crews, this Jet dropped them off in Redding CA, and continued on to Fairbanks AK to pick up more hand crews, they told us be ready in three days and the Jet will return for another 5 crews.......
This is what they call a 100 year event that is happen in Northern CA (allot like what happened last year in So Cal), Half of the city of Redding and other near by cities/towns have been moved out do to the on coming fires (they learned this last years). I-5 has been closed at Lake Shasta due to smoke and flame impingement on the bridges and freeway. The government, has asked for help from other counties, ie Canada, Australia, New Zealand, also a Battalion of the military will be trained up and sent to help. As u will see in the write on today Sit. Report 8 C-130 aircraft have be sent to help, we r just running out of fire crews, aircraft. I have been doing this job for 33 years and I have only seen this a few other time in (TX,FL) where we have a movement of fire people to one state like we r doing here, and the bad news is, Fire season in the west hasn't even started yet... We are in for a loooooooong fire season........
