I've been smoking for quite some time, and although I prefer mild-medium cigars, I have enjoyed some very full bodied smokes. I got a sample pack recently that included a Purio Indio Viejo, an aged blend composed of top-grade Sumatra wrappers and lush Jamastran long-leaf fillers. The cigar was described as 'a medium bodied handmade with an earthy core complemented by a pleasant touch of sweetness'. Sounds good, right?
About a quarter stick into the smoke, I started feeling uneasy. My breathing became a little difficult, I got somewhat lightheaded, and got the sweats. I thought I would get through it, but I just had to put down the smoke and go outside for some fresh air. At one point I got concerned about how lousy I felt, but it passed.
I felt lousy for the hour. I had smoked Purio Indios before ( not Viejo ) without issue, and again, never had this experience while smoking a cigar. Needless to say, I chucked that sucker out and took a cigar break for a day or two to recover. Damn, not sure what happened!
Anybody have a similar experience smoking in general, or related to a particular cigar? When I think of the variety I have smoked over many years, I was real surprised to get hit so hard. :frown:
