Found my first stick ever that I've had in any of of the storage I've used that developed mold. Currently using a small CC-100 wineador at %65 using bovedas. Only on the one stick, a Room 101 Daruma that I've had since last February. White fury mold on the foot. It was in a tray on the very bottom but rh was reading 66 on the bottom. Temp has crept up a little lately to 72 in my basement since the AC has been having to run too hard with the relatively cool summer we've been having. Not using the cooling in the wineador currently. I didn't even think mold was an issue at %65. Not sure it the temp played a role. I cut off about 3/4" off the stick. If it doesn't develop any more mold in the next month or 2 I think it should be fine to smoke.

Any chance they caught a bit on condensation or puddling sitting on the bottom of the unit? But if you're not running the cooling in the unit I don't know why you would have condensation. Maybe put a computer fan in to give you some air circulation.

Yeah, definitely no condensation. The internal circ fan is still plugged in and it runs 24/7. I thought that would be enough to keep air circulating everywhere at least a little.

I have this issues with darumas to, it was like sea foam, light and fluffy cloud, sitting on the side of some of the sticks. I put them in their own bag separate. They were stored in their own box to...

How close was that cigar to your bovedas? Idk if I'd try and smoke it, but that's just me :)

This particular one was a few inches away. I have my bovedas just laying on top of cigars in each tray. Never had a problem with any other cigars doing that for years.

My darumas were in the original box and no boveda inside either, even odder. This isn't the first time w/mold on room 101's though. I had some Ecuadorian namakubi's do this as well as some uncle lee's (all that paper wrapping on both).

This is why I got rid of my wineador and went with a coolidor. For whatever reason I could just never figure out how to prevent these massive swings in humidity that caused mold. I used HF beads, then bovedas, both with a fan running, and still had issues. The first time I had to throw out 20 Cohiba Siglo IIs, and the second time a box of Partagas SD4s, among others. Now I have the coolidor and humidity spikes are a thing of the past, as is mold.

Why didn't you just turn it off?
