Saw CI was having a bundle sale on the sales thread and since iv been on a budget figured ordering a bundle would be cheaper than going to the b&m and getting singles. Grabe the cheap c'est la vie corona budble for a nice yard stick and work stick that I can throw out if need be and not waste more than a buck. 20 bundle was only 12.50. Also picked up the 10 sampler and humidor set for 20 dollars using the promo code. Figured for 20 a desktop humi I would be nice to go with the coolidor I'm working on and a decent set of sticks iv not tried.

Honestly, I think you're fine with that humi. I've had all sorts and never had many issues even with the cheaper ones. Just make sure you season it first. Can't say much about the sticks since I've never had them, but not too many of us start out buying high price cigars. I've had the c'est la vie pipe tobacco, which I enjoyed but I don't think it really has anything to do with the cigars.

Thanks guys pretty excited to get it. It will allow me to actually collect alittle more than just buy and smoke which I do most the time now.

I know this question doesn't really belong here but has anyone used the boveda seasoning kit? The kit seems really big I don't think I need that much. And is the calibration kits accurate? There was an option for 35 and 75 rh, is on better than the other?

I'll vouch for the Boveda seasoning packs. They say to leave them in for 2 weeks - I seasoned my newest humi with them for 3 weeks, and the results were fantastic. 4 months later, the cedar smell from that box is still much stronger than in the rest. I've contemplated going back and re-seasoning the others to see if I can get the same results.

As far as calibrating your hygro... if you use Boveda packs (for regular use, after seasoning) then I wouldn't even worry about the hygrometer. If they're soft, they're working. When they dry out, swap 'em out and recharge the old ones by placing them in a tupperware container with a few shot glasses of distilled water for a few weeks.

Oh cool didn't know you could dehydrate the boveda packs. I might just go with them then. Was going to use heartfelt beads since they were reusable. I'll definitely do the seasoning kit then, and probably still do a meter to be safe and use it later in the coolidor when I expand.

I have 2 of those cheap desktop humis and they work great. As for seasoning I just left them closed with a shot glass of distilled water for a few days. Never had an issue. And calibrating the hygro is simple. Salt test it in a zip lock with some damp salt. I believe after a day it should read 70. There is a screw on the back to change it to that if not and you are good to go.
Enjoy the new smokes and added storage!
