First round of the year..

Played my first round of the year today.

Sunburnt as hell and dealt with 30+ MPH wind gusts (sucked). But I played great for the first outing of the year. Shot an 81.

Would have been under 80 had I not hit the water on two, including driving into the drink on 18.

Alas, not a bad start. My goal this year is to finally get par.

Nice first round of the year. I was hoping to get out, but the winds were a big turnoff. Hopefully the weather and wind will cooperate this week.

Yeah, the winds were quite frustrating. Killed some great shots that should have landed on the green. Hopefully it's not that bad again.

Also made smoking pretty frustrating. I struggled through two sticks and enjoyed them, but it was annoying to keep relighting cuz the gusts messed with the burn and kept putting them out.

On a pretty cool note, the guys I got paired with invited me to play with them in a couple of weeks in a tournament hosted by their company, all expenses paid by the company. Can't beat free mid-week golf!
