Did not fish the lake I wanted to as it too was ice covered, but fished a flowage lake. Since they are part of a river system, they we all open.

Last year for opener, we had to fish late spring/early summer patterns. This year, we had to fish "ice out" patterns. Really strange year.

You guys are killin me! I would kill to live that near to awesome eyes and pike. I'm not too far away in Nebraska, but I have to drive about 4 hours to get to any decent walleye fishin. The bass fishing has been pretty good here as of late, and the crappie are spawning as we speak.

Yup, first opener of the last 20 years I haven't been out. What lake are you on?
I'm on Eagle Lake in otter tail county. Most of the lakes around here had the ice come off this week, but ours is always the last to have the ice off. Its spring feed bottom so it makes it one of the coldest in the state, but also one of the clearest in the state as well. You can see well over 10 feet deep.

Yeah...I was out cutting my grass yesterday when it started to snow.

I am soooooo done with Winter this year. Thank God it's going to be in the 70's and 80's this week!

With the strong winds Saturday it finally started to break up overnight, woke up to a open lake.
