Guys I wanted to bring your attention to something that I have gotten into recently. With the power of the PC organizations have been able to use our CPU power to assist in calculations needed for disease understandings. You may recall SETI which was the E.T. program for radio signals from outer space. Very popular but many don't feel it's really a contribution. Below is folding at home. Being cigar smokers and all the bad press we get I figured who else to contribute. On a team currently with 150,000 points but going to leave if we can gather enough interest to field our own team. I'd prefer to keep this BB free and open to all cigar smokers. To make the biggest noise the aggregate score speaks the loudest. Multiple teams of cigar smokers we won't stand out immediately but the project is important enough that I wouldn't argue anyone from doing that. We all chat cigars so lets populate team CigarChat and start folding.

What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease?
Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery.
Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.
You can help by simply running a piece of software.
Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.

This is really VERY easy to install, I think the installer is < 1MB. You can use the same user name on multiple machines and it'll combine the credit. Also don't forget to use our team number 136375
