Story time!!

About 4 years ago or so I was still just a very occasional cigar smoker (a couple times a year). By buddy and I went to the Casino one day to enjoy a great buffet and some slots, and decided to grab some sticks at the over-priced tobacco shop.

I had just won $60 on the Austin Powers slot machine, and decided to splurge on something expensive. At that time, I judged sticks entirely by look and smell. I grabbed one particular stick and sniffed it and knew I just HAD to smoke it, It think it was around $20 but I can't recall. It did not disappoint, it was the best cigar I had ever enjoyed bar non. I remember having to sit down about 2/3 of the way through because I was so stoned I was worried I might get sick, lol. But it was an awesome cigar experience shared with one of my best friends.

Since then, I've tried to figure out what cigar that was. Even now that I'm a daily stogie guy, I still hadn't found it ... until today!

I was about to smoke my Boris this afternoon, but there are gusts of like 40 mph here right now and I didn't want to ruin it. So I grabbed the first nice cigar that caught my eye--an Ashton VSG Wizard.

The wrapper taste and pre-light draw tickled my memory somehow, but I couldn't place it. But after the first two puffs it came it me ... this is THE cigar!!!! Oh my gosh!

I'm pretty excited to have found this stick. I'm enjoying this cigar quite a bit, and even moreso because of the memories. Isn't it cool how a cigar can do that? Something about the combination of smell and taste memories are very strong on an emotional level. I think I'm going to call my buddy up and see how he's doing :ccool:

They are so unique, huh? I think that's why I knew after 2 puffs that this was that cigar I smoked all those years ago.

I'm not getting much spice at all off this particular one, maybe it's aged a bit (I've heard many say that the fresher ones are better if you like the spice). Regardless, it's an awesome cigar.

Wow, I haven't had The Wizard, but I have one resting in the humi. Maybe I'll fire it up this weekend and create a memory of my own.

Cool story, glad you found it. I looked it up and it is pricey! $12 a stick! I'll have to wait a bit to get one of those

LOL...when you said that you had to sit down 2/3 through, I thought, "Sounds like a VSG". The very first VSG Sorcerer I smoked did the same thing to me. Great cigars!

Very cool story about finding the lost smoke!

I love the VSG, I haven't had the Wizard yet, although I do have one in the humi! I may need to torch it this weekend as well. Thanks for the story!
