At the risk of being crucified, I thought I'd pass this link on to the brave few who may be interested.

Four Kicks Auction

I know most of you won't deal with these folks, due to past experiences and/or the horror stories you have heard, but I've had nothing but good luck with them. Maybe I'm the exception.

35 lots of 10 Four Kick Robs starting at $32. Closing tomorrow with only 5 lots bid on, so getting them for opening bid shouldn't be a problem. I'd be going after some if I didn't have so many already.

About a week ago I won 20 Headley Grange for about the same price (opening bid). 20 lots where up, and four went unclaimed. First time I bid there in over a year, as their new starting bids are usually higher then what I can win stuff for elsewhere, but this looked like a decent price for Four Kicks fans.

Again, only for the brave. I assume no responsibility for any "bad luck" you may experience with these folks.

That is a great deal! If I didn't already have 2+ boxes in my cooler I would probably bid on some myself.

As far as buying from Thompson, I have had zero issues in the transactions that I have had with them. Cigars have always been fresh and customer service has been great. Apparently a few years ago they got a little aggressive with calling people to sign them up for their cigar of the month club which was a definite turn off. They actually called me twice on that. The first time I told them no and the second time I told them to remove me from their list. I never received another call.

The other thing that some people don't like about Thompson is that they <gasp> send out catalogs. Once again, if you don't want to have a catalog sent to your house, call them up and ask to be removed from their mailing list. I'm sure they would be happy to save the cost of the catalog and postage if it pisses you off that you are getting it. lf I refused to buy from cigar companies that sent me catalogs then I would no longer be buying from Famous, Cigars International, JR Cigars, Cigar.com or (wait for it).....Emerson's.

Thanks for this. I just tried my first Four Kicks in a Crowned Heads sampler. I'm currently watching another auction elsewhere (that is tying up my cigar allowance), but if that falls through, I'll give this a shot.

Thompson was how I first got into cigars.. A random catalog I found in Iraq. Never had an issue with them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't have problems with them. I did get the "phone call" about 4 years ago. I told them to note on my account that if they ever called me again, I'd close my account out for good. Never got another call.

A few years back, their auction site was a stink'n gold mine. There was hardly anyone biding over there, and I cleaned up big time. The best deals I remember where 40 PAM 64 robs for between $6.40 to $7 each, 4 boxes of Undercrown toros for $82 per box ($3.28 ea.), and a box of Flor de las Antillas for $55.

Over the years the number of bidders went up, and the starting bids increased, so they are usually not the best deal going, but I still check them on occasion.

Oh, and a warning to those used to Cbid's and CA's auto bid format. This is a "Dutch" auction, which means you are going to pay what you bid, so don't go in with a bid higher then the opening $32.

I couldn't resist... To hell with the other bid! Lol (visit from the grandparents today left me with some "spending money" 😇)

If that one goes down, it just means I can bid on a other set of these.

My other bid didn't last (I figured it wouldn't, but had to be sure), & now I realize I can't bid on another 10 unless I increase my bid :/ Live & learn I suppose!

Yes, when I saw your post #7, I was going to warn you about that, but the bid increment said $0.00, where normally it's set at $1 or $2, so I was hoping it wouldn't have made you raise your initial bid.

Weird thing is these average $23 a fiver on Cbid. Thompson puts them up at $16 a fiver, and 23 lots go unclaimed.

No worries! Either way, thanks for the great heads up! I didn't NEED 10 more, I think my new tupperdor has me itching lol. I could have just spent the $2 extra, but I'm a stingy bastard like that!

It is weird about the huge price difference... I looked over at Cbid history & was kind of shocked. I'll definitely be looking at the Thompson auctions a bit more now!
