It's great to hear he was greeted warmly, but let's face it the battle of the coral sea is one of the most underrated battles in our history! Many people don't realise just how much it helped the war effort and how it leveled the playing field in the battle of midway soon after, contributing greatly to allied success. From memory the Japanese sunk more ships but it was a turning point in the war that wont be soon forgotten by anyone in my family!Good day, sir! My son visited Australia aboard the USS Independence, during y'alls celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, and he said y'all treated he and his shipmates like heroes.
