So I am normally a single malt scotch drinker but I do enjoy some Bourbon / Tennessee Whisky on a regular basis. I decided to try something new over the holidays - George Dickel Barrel Select. I really enjoy Jack Select, Makers & Woodford Reserve but the George Dickel was a little too sweet for me - I felt the sweetness masked any distinct flavor. I don't see many write-ups on this - any opinions on it - or any other suggested options?

Thanks

Never had it before. My go-to bourbon as of late is Eagle Rare 10yr. I just snagged a bottle of Black Ridge Small Batch which is also good. It's a very delicate bourbon, so a scotch-whisky palate could come in handy when tasting it.

I still recommend WL Weller 12 year if you can find it; it should run about $20-30 a bottle. I was a part of a blind taste test with this stuff and Van Winkle Lot B and nobody could tell much of a difference between the 2.

I've never had the Dickel barrel select. I've only had the 8yr old. I'm in PA and it's hard to get different booze. If we want the Dickel 12yr old we need to special order it.

I've been looking for the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked but we don't have it here either.

My go to is Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek and Gentleman Jack - It just depends on my mood.

Weller 12 please... Weller 12 especially hits its sweet spot when the bottle is about 1/3rd empty. Air time does wonders to wheated whiskeys.

Don't remember seeing that either.
