Well, I've been on the road a lot this year already, but one thing's for sure, it's been an interesting year to start.

1- never had to wear glasses in 49 plus years, now I need them to read.

2 - discovered I have sleep apnea, got a machine and a mask to sleep better.

3- discovered I have high blood pressure so now I take a pill every day!

4 - was told I had a deviated septum and enlarged tonsils that are making it worse on my obstructive sleep apnea.

5 - had a tonsillectomy last week...fixed my deviated septum, lasered out a bunch of skin in the back of my throat and removed my tonsils. At 50 years of age, this sucks, boy and girls...

On the bright side, maybe I won't need the machine and mask any more to sleep well -

Good grief....what a start to the year!

Randy

Wishing you the best Randy. I'm only 42 but feel like I'm 92 a lot of the time.

Major changes in the last 5 years are.....

- Diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer in 2007, (chemo & radiation and 7 surgeries later now and Dr's say it's gone but still having related "issues".)
- Glasses just a couple months ago, (they tell me I'll need bi-focals within 2 years.)
- Gained like 40 Lbs in the last 2 years (while sitting and laying around post cancer treatments/surgeries on a steady diet of pain pills.)
- Broke my shoulder at work in 2006, (scapula broke lengthwise from the joint outwards and never healed correctly and now causes severe arthritic pains alot of the time.)
- Was recently told I have high cholestorol, (level is 322.)

Life can suck at times, but I ain't ready for that long dirt nap just yet.

well, at least I'm losing weight...down 18 pounds since the doctor put me on the pills and the surgery just last Wednesday...I'm having ice cream (non fat) and milk shakes (all natural and non fat) - lots of soft foods for over a month on my menu...oh boy! At least I'm alive, though, huh????

I hear ya Randy, I went in for my 40 year check up and was diagnosed with:

High Blood Pressure
High Cholesterol
Diabetes

The sleep apnea came a couple years later, I gotta say though, that CPap machine makes all the difference.

When Father Time hits, he hits hard. My little saga:

I've been playing/officiating basketball at the high school and college levels for 40 years. Never had a problem. Turned 50 in 2006, which is when I had knee surgery for the first time (right knee). Had surgery on the left knee in 2007. Had a total hip replacement (right) in 2008. Looks like a second surgery on the left knee coming later this year.

But I can still run the floor. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it, and I'll be damned if a little bit of surgery and arthritis is going to knock me out of the game.

Yeah, I didn't mind the machine, actually slept pretty well with it, but it's too much of a pain as much as I travel - this surgery should take care of most of my issues! I hope so, anyway...

Glad you got through the surgery ok, Randy.

Sounds like you're about to turn 50, so get ready to go in for a colonoscopy.

In the past 5 years, I've had only symptoms that the doctors can't diagnose, and ills that the doctors diagnose for which I've never had symptoms. Lots of fun.

At least I still haven't joined AARP, despite all their junk mail.

I'm 56 & been wearing glasses for 50 years. No biggie. My hair's grey, but it's still there. In fact, it reaches halfway down my back. I retired in 2005 & play rock & blues with my friends so I have little stress. Stress is what ages you.

Damn, Randy, no wonder we never hear from you. I figured you in the Las Vegas jail or something. Let's meet for a smoke and we can compare ailments! :stretchgr
