Is there such a thing? I've bought a couple of cheap ones from
various B&M's and the latest one really pisses me off! It's a screw
on (vs the kind that "clicks in place") but it still came off anyway!

I guess I'm gonna have to "Man Up" and buy a Xikar punch but for
whatever reason i'd rather not! *SMH*

If you guys can turn me on to some decent alternatives i'd really
appreciate it...

The rubberized punch I keep on my key chain and never have any issues at all. However I say spring for a Xicar cutter. You can get them for around $30 on ebay and since I baught mine I hardly ever use the punch anymore.

I use the punch built into my torch lighters, if you in the market for some new fire go that route. 2 birds with one stone, not sure what your budget is but I frequent ebay, check out the dual size punches spring loaded on the bottom with nice consistent flame - http://cgi.ebay.com/RI-KANG-DOUBLE-TORCH-CIGAR-PUNCH-LIGHTER-RK072-/380212647980?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588670982c.
The budget really isn't too much of a problem (considering what i spend on cigars) I used to have a couple lighters w/ a decent sized punch on it but i lost one, and one got confiscated at the airport. (i forgot to put it in my checkin luggage)

Thing is i love the punch Tom! Everytime I read one of Ron's reviews I cringe when he mentions the word punch! I think my b&m has this one that comes w/ a keychaing, and the two ends are magnetic one side is probably 11/12mm and the other is 8/9mm for 20 bucks... I'm going to stop in there this week and see if he still has it.

Go to the gun range. Used ammo casings make great cigar punches and come in a variety of sizes.

2x the punch , from what I've learned the punch or v-cut keeps the tobacco away from your lips. Also I think it delivers a more controlled draw, I noticed when I smoked a few bold sticks with a cut it felt like I did a couple miles around the track piggybacking a midget :frownno:

A good punch cutter should be 2 pieces. The punch half should be hallow, and the holder part should have a piece sticking out that fits inside the hollow part of the punch. When you punch the cigar it leaves the cap in the puncher part and when you go to close the punch the piece sticking out of the holder should poke the cap through.
