Got rear ended

Well yesterday as I was driving the GF to the park and ride to head to school, we live in the southern end (nice beach townish) part of Rhode Island and the bus is direct and drops off right in front of the graduate school in providence. Anyways around 6:50 in the AM we were the only car on the road at a light. All of a sudden I look back and see headlights approaching fast and the light just turned green and Bam! Smacks right into us. As soon as we get hit I hear sirens and think wow that is fast. A cop pulling out the parking lot of the police station that we got hit in front of.

What sucks is I thought it was just going to be a quick 10 min drive so I just threw on my Nikes with no socks shirt and shorts. Ended up standing in the rain and had to make a trip to the ER to check on the GF once we got pulled out by a tow truck from the Mud we ended up in after the collision. The Car that hit us was a mercury and sustained a lot more damage then we did, from what it looked like the bumper broke off, hood was crushed in and their door wouldn't open. No one from there side was hurt though.

Things really could have been a lot worse, especially if there was more traffic and if we would have got hit by oncoming after the initial impact. Sad thing is the car is now rusting because of the rain.

Always say you cannot feel your legs and must be taken away by an ambulance!

(Let me just say that, it doesn't sound very ethical, but a police officer of 30+ years told me thats what I need to do.)

Glad no one was hurt! Sux they muffed up the beemer though... and like Saully said, glad it wasn't anything "don't ask, don't tell" related.

I know that sucks bro. I had the same thing happen to me when I had just gotten my new gmc crew cab truck. I was stopped waiting on the car in front of me to turn when a kia flew under me. She hit me so hard it bent my bumper towards the ground and knocked my spare out from its mounting brackes and it landed 20 feet in front of me. I had 67 miles on it at the time. Very frustrating, especially when you are not doing anything wrong!

She's has it rough, she just had surgery a month ago to repair a complete hair of her ligaments she ruptured falling on ice. She's doing better but still sore, they gave her muscle relaxers and some NSAIDs.
