Anyone got one? If so which one?

We want to get a couple for work, but a key feature we want to be able to do is to upload routes from word or streets and trips. Anyone know of a model to do this?

I been looking at the Garmin series. They have a POI loader that might work. I have to see if our software will download our routes into a cvs file.

Streets and Trips allows you to plan the route. GPS units route you based on one of the following: Shortest time, Shortest Distance, Most use of Freeways or Least use of Freeways. I have used "Streets and Trips" to plan a route of various places I wanted to go, Then used my Magellan 760 to get there in the order I wanted. Each address independently, one after the other. Streets and Trips does come with a GPS Capability option. I have used this with my PC in the car. Takes up a lot of space in the front seat. Never tried multilpe stops with it.

The thing is our routing software plots everything out in S&T's. If they have 150 stops over 4 cities its way to much to print out. A laptop would be to much for them to have in the truck and also not legal in CT. Having that open and on in the front seat is a fine, like talking on a cell phone with out an ear piece. So by loading their route in the GPS they can use that to go from stop to stop. We have an old unit that we will preprogram a few stops in and it works great, but it takes way to much time for a hole route to be entered by hand

I had a similar issue (wanted to chart my sales territory) with my Nuvi, I can't remember how I did it but I created an extract from streets & trips and massaged it into csv with name, address, and phone number. POI loader into the Nuvi. I will play around with everything and see if I can remember how I did it.

My friend bought one and now I have to pick one up. It really makes driving around much easier.

I'm looking to get the wife one for Valentine's Day. I'm looking at the Garmin Nuvi 200W and the TomTom One 3rd Edition. Can anyone comment on the two of these? From what I read it appears that the TomTom is free to update and it appears that it has many more options while the Nuvi has a simpler user interface. Both are on sale for under $200.

How much would the wide screen matter (4.3" vs. 3.5")?
What is the value of the text-to-speech to read street names?
How costly and difficult is it to update the maps on each?

I do not use the text to speech at all...I find it annoying as I like to listen to the radio. Some people might like it. I'm OK with glancing at the unit to see when I have to turn.

I have a widescreen and really enjoy it. It helps the map be larger and the info be on screen too without comprimising the viewing of the map.

Not sure about the cost to update maps though.

Widescreen: much easier to see. I hate the little tiny screens.

Text to speech: to each their own. If I didn't have it on I'd probably miss turns.

Cost to update maps? Shouldn't cost a thing I would imagine. Not sure, but check the websites, I would assume that once you've bought one you should be able to update maps whenever the company (Garmin or TomTom) does. Not sure?

My wife has a Garmin NUVI (660 I think): loves it.

Wish I could help you out with the original question Derek, but I honestly don't have a clue what you are talking about!

I personally use a Garin C530... Good unit and has a security lock, so in the event it is stolen from your car, no one else will be unable to lock it without the security code.
