So I've smoked the Jaguar and the Puma...

Let me say, I like the fact that they used San Andreas Maduro, claimed to play no games with the fermentation... but that being said... I'm not a huge fan.

My thoughts can be found here. Anyone else smoked this? I know there was tons of anticipation going into the show (perhaps because of the delays), but for me it didn't live up.

Ive come across a few people that havent really had anything good to say about the new GH, Ill be staying away from them personally. Im not a big fan of really anything from Gran Habano though.

Also those boxes are terrible looking, a rustic looking box like the 5 vegas relic box would have been perfect for this cigar.

I've never had one, but I don't think I want anything that looks like a CHEAPER version of a 5Vegas Gold. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the 5Vegas's, but, as cheap as they are, the display still looks nicer than that thing.

I like the box, it's different.
It just looks like a cheaper 5Vegas box...

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I've always been a firm believer in smoking what you like and liking what you smoke, so more power to anyone that DOES like these. :)

Ha well if anything I'd say it's a little more cartoony... I don't know, it's got a weird lego/Matel look to it that I kind of dig.

I guess it really comes down to how it smokes though because I don't buy boxes any way and apparently they aren't getting rave reviews.

So we smoke our cigars based on box appearance now, guys? Come on.

As for the smoke. The samples I received from IPCPR were stellar. I confirmed this with numerous folks from the show including members of Dogwatch, Stogie Review and this very site. The maduro was rich & sweet and was a wonderful compliment to the rest of the blend. Now, I know for a fact that the production versions were going to be made to order on the first runs. It stands to reason that there may have been tweaks from the pre-production versions to the actual finished version. I hope not, but we'll see. For those of you who have actually smoked these, where did you get them? IPCPR? Handouts from George in late summer?? production boxes???

I got together with a few guys last night to smoke the production release Azteca. All 4 of us enjoyed them at the show in August and have been (im)patiently awaiting their arrival. All of us came to the same conclusion that they were not as enjoyable this time around. All 4 were Jaguars (same size we had at the show) but were from the same box. Stay tuned for additional comments as I try them from other boxes and other sizes. First impression: Disappointing.
