I'm on the other side of the fence. I much prefer the #5 and the extra pennies per cigar (cbid prices) are well worth it to me.
-The construction is better - I've had a number of 2002's that are rolled too tight
-I believe that the tobacco is aged longer (or at least timed more precisely?) before release to wholesaler; the smoothness and balance is much better in the #5
-Most importantly, the taste, to me, is much better. The #5 gives me a very rich, sweet, black cherry taste that is completely lacking in the 2002.
The 2002 is a serviceable yard gar, IMHO. But, when I can get #5's for well under $3 (and usually under $2), it is a very easy decision for me.
--- And a short jack.....if you like corojo, GH, and shop cbid, I recommend the G.A.R. Great flavor and construction and so far under the radar, they consistently go for under $3. Not the rich, sweetness of the other two, but a very satisfying full corojo along the lines of the Camacho or RP Edge.
