Hi all,

I'm a new member from the sunny tropical island of Singapore! I've smoked cigarettes for a while but have yet to smoke cigars, though I currently have 10 Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos and 10 Montecristo Petit Edmundos on shipment from Cigars of Habanos. I have smoked Phillies Cigarillos before but I know those don't count. I must admit I quite enjoyed them though. :)

Anyways, hello to one and all, and a big shout-out to other BOTLs from Singapore and Malaysia. Do hope to meet up with some of you soon.

A quick question to those living in the tropics; Our RH here is between 80 and 90%, and I read that the cigars are best kept at around 70%. Would a dry-cabinet set at about 70% RH make more sense than a humidor?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard from Pakistan! I suggest you get some beads and replace the green foam in your humidor with them. They're much better and far more stable than foam and will keep your RH in the suggested range.

Thanks Daniyal! I'm using a Drymistat Humidifier Tube with PG Humidification Solution, hopefully that works out!

Hi Pbear!

:welcome:from the US (Minnesota) :waving:

We look forward to having you here!

As a suggestion, if you are using drymistat tubes you should just fill them with distilled water. The crystals inside them are already charged with PG solution so by adding more PG to them you may actually shorten their lifespan. Going forward just add distilled water when needed. Since you live in such a humid environment though you will probably not need to add water very often (if at all). If you are having trouble keeping the humidity down you can also "dry out" your drymistats by putting them (just the drymistats) in the refrigerator overnight. This will make it easier for them to absorb the extra moisture and bring your cigars to 70% faster.

Welcome pbear! I'll be visiting Singapore/Malaysia again sometime in the next couple of months. I've smoked at Jimmy's, Olde Cuban in Chinatown and the Conn Divan. Best cigar lounges I've smoked in yet. Welcome to BOTL.
