Hello all.

I'm a recent addition to the cigar community and this site kept coming up in my searches. I just built my first igloodor and am looking for one of those old mini Oust fans or something similar, so the timing seemed right to join up and gain/give some knowledge and help.

I was a half-pack a day cigarette smoker on and off for 10 years before having a few nice puffs of a good (unknown) cigar a couple months ago. Ever since, I haven't spent a dime on cigarettes and am enjoying the cigar experience. My first good cigar I finished in full was the Padron 5000 Maduro and have since acquired a relatively modest stash of around 80 cigars that necessitated the igloodor. Currently (changing just about daily), my favorites are the Diesel Torpedos, Cabaiguan Petites, Cubao Maduros, and El Triunfador Lanceros. I'm anxiously anticipating some soon to come shipments and aging of Illusiones.

If any other newbie happens to read this, I hope to save you the approximately $200 I've "wasted" while building to this point. Since you're gonna need a humidor of any sort, buy a pound of 65% humidity beads before you spend a penny on any other humidification product. Get some cheap pantyhose for storing and a cheap syringe for charging the beads, and you'll already be a month and a half ahead of where I was when I started.

If it warrants, I can offer some other pointers that I wish I would have known when starting this process but I until then I'll conclude by wishing everyone good health and good experiences. To be continued...

Cheers.

Welcome Brother. Great advice on the beads. I, too, spent a bunch of cash needlessly before finding the Heartfelt Beads- wish that I had right off the bat. Hope things are well with you. Sounds like some good smoking is ahead. Take care and welcome from another newbie.

Welcome and some great advice there. The syringe, however, isn't necessary! Spray bottle works just as well if not better IMHO. Just make sure it's bottled water - no tap water please.

And congrats on giving up the cigs.. I know that's never easy.
