He lived in the next town over and it's been quite the shock to the community. He was my age and my wife is the same age as his. I just don't see how anyone could do that to their family. Terrible loss.

I'm not surprised, and I think they made the right call by putting a stop to the tributes for now. But it sure is a tough line to walk when someone you admire or respect or like does something awful. I wonder what happened.

The WWE people are idiots in my book. They did a tribute to the guy without even knowing what happened. Sounds like the media. They should have waited a little bit before doing a tribute to a guy who murdered his own family.

I thought USA did the tribute? I know they aired it. Did the WWE produce it?

It is a bad situation for sure. I see why the tribute was made, if you have a dedicated employee that has showed you nothing but hard work and determination, the monsterous act he committed would never cross your mind. Hindsight is always 20/20. As for why, I just read a story (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1563400/20070626/index.jhtml) on Benoit stating that there were several perscription drugs and steriods (shocker there) found in the home. It also stated that there had been past marital problems. Lastly, unfortunately this kind of thing happens too frequently, it just takes someone famous for it to make the news. Thats just my two cents worth.

He was always one of the most respected guys on there. This blew me away. I've liked him for a long time, even before he went out of his way to talk to my doughtier at a local event.

It is very sad. I remember watching him as a kid when I was into the whole wrestling thing. He was one of my favorites in the ring. Its a shame.

To my knowledge they canceled their event last night in Corpus when they found out about his death and did an instant tribute to him. I don't follow the WWE, but from what I've read and heard that is what they did.

I don't blame them for wanting to do a tribute to a person who dies, but you need not to rush to be the first for the shear fact you are the first. I hate this about todays television. So much stuff is rushed at us before the people telling us what happen even know the truth. Granted I doubt that would change most reporting anyways, but in this circumstance I think it would. I feel sorry for the families involved and and those who are personally impacted by this event.

I always liked him as a wrestler but am shocked at the details that have unfolded.

Just another sad case of 'roid rage ...
That's what the media is trying to make it out to be. We do not know until the toxicology reports come back. Killing his wife then 1 to 2 days later killing his son, placing bibles besides them and then himself does not reflect a rage killing. Try a search on family annihilation...

Piece of shit...And I was thinking highly of him last night while flipping channels and I happened to see the tribute running. I can definitely say that he is a lot bigger now, muscle wise, than he was years ago. He freakin' ballooned into a monster. I don't believe roid rage was a factor in this simply because he took hours/days to plot what he was going to do.
