While doing this.
Kayak2.jpg

Got about 30 minutes out and went to light up a nice stogie, and then discovered I had left them on shore...DOH!!
On top of that, the fishing wasn't great. But I did get to see a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral from pretty close. And then there was that gator who wasn't too happy that I had wondered into his territory. But hey, didn't have to work.

That Gator was probably just pissed that you didn't have a stogie to share with him.

you already alluded to one of my favorite sayings...."a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work"

Worst day of fishing > Best day at work

Ain't that the truth.

Wow, Curt, even without the cigar it sounds like it was a hell of a day!

Like the setup you have too.
Thanks man. It is still a work in progress. I have to get the anchor system dialed in, and need some dry storage, but it is a very stable kayak.

Stability is a good thing in the scary reptile waters where you live, lol.

Only time I've been in an ocean kayak was when my wife and I took one out in Fiji. I was surprised how stable it was, I had always heard they were similar to river kayaks, but not at all. We were wave riding by the end of it, heh.

Ziplock bags always work until you can get something permanent for dry storage. (As I'm sure you know)

LOL. There are more ziplock bags in my tackle bag then there are in the house. How was Fiji? That is one of our dream vacations.

sweet kayak. Which Ocean Kayak model is that?
It is the Malibu Two. It is a tandem kayak that also has a center sit when you are paddling solo. My wife likes to kayak but not fish, so it was a good compromise. Technically it isn't a "fishing" kayak, and many a person said I would never be able to rig it to fish out of. Telling me that I would not be able to do something usually isn't the way to go...challenge accepted, I think I won.

If you ever get the chance to go, do it! It's not as touristy as the bahamas or hawaii, much more rugged. We loved it though, planning on going back sometime. The water is wonderful, the people are super nice and the beaches are amazing.

Man that looks awesome. I'm dying to start kayak fishing
It's a lot of fun. My advice is to rent a few different types to find out which one best suits your needs. I love drift fishing with a nice cigar, it does take some practice though.
