Had a badly impacted wisdom tooth pulled

This sucks I was up to at least one cigar a day, and now the dentist says it could be two weeks before I can smoke. As you can see on the lower left of this pic the tooth was horizontal in relation to the other teeth. This means he had to remove a healthy bit if bone with the painful tooth. My face is swelled up and I'm as high as a duck on Vicodin. Hope not many other brothers have had to go through this, it sucks, not to mention there is a local cigar event this weekend. :thumbdown:

2 weeks isn't bad, and like I told jwyatt... wait it out, smoking can make your life hell until you are cleared by the dentist.

You can smoke, I don't recommend it because you'll end up getting dry socket and related issues.

I've had a friend get a dry socket, sounds like about the worst, right next to not being able to enjoy premium cigars

Damn, dude! I consider myself to be a very lucky man. I've lived to this ripe old age and wisdom teeth never showed up. Guess I'm just not that wise. Military dentist wanted to pull them all from under my gums a few years back, so I asked him why. He told me that because they "might" cause me problems in the future, I needed them out. I told him I'd let him know if they ever did, and thank you, but I'll be keeping them. So far, so good, and I'm thinking now that I'm within spitting distance of 50 I'm probably good to go. Personally, I think the clown just wanted the practice. Whatcha gonna smoke to celebrate your eventual freedom?

I've been through it twice...the pain making it two weeks without a cigar definately beats dry socket. Nausea and pain...and had to put tea bags in my mouth to help healing (man..there's a joke in that sentence!) One day at a time is good advice. Good luck and speedy healing!

Hope you get better bro. Do not smoke...I went through that twice (I got all 4 of them out) and tried to smoke...it brought all kinds of issues.

I drank a lot of liquids and started eating mashed potatoes, mashed plantains and soft stuff. For the pain? We got a medicine here that made me sleep like a freakin baby...It is called "Alin" but basically it contains Dexamethasone.

That's rough. I had all 4 done at once and it was a miserable few days. By the 4th day or so you start feeling better but the no smoking was worse than the pain! Feel better man!

Dry socket is the suck, rinse with salt water twice a day at least.... Nothing that involves a sucking motion.... Giggity, it can cause all kinds of problems... 2 weeks is a small price to pay
