Got a Kimber Super Carry Custom HD as my 21st birthday present today. I found one in stock at a local gun store and had to jump on it since they are impossible to find anywhere around here. I could not wait the remaining 57 days for my birthday so it is registered in my dad's name for the time being. Went down to the range with my dad tonight and went shooting for a few hours to celebrate father's day as I was working all last weekend. According to him, his Kimber Gold Match II is not good enough for him now after shooting my 1911. After drooling over the gun shelves he is getting a NHC, Dan Wesson, or Ed Brown to add to his gun safes :nodlaugh:

Happy 21st!

I've gotta ask, why did you register though? I've never bought a handgun "officially", are you forced to do so?

Btw, I have to tell you that is one sexy gun. I spent 2 hours last night on their website trying to decide which Ultra model is the sexiest

Hope you have better luck with your Kimber than I.

I have burned through three of them, internal and external extractors and all were plagued with FTF, FTE, nose dive jams, stove pipes, etc. After three, I will never buy another Kimber again.

Nice looking Handgun.

In Washington State you are required to forego a background check(~10 days, none after you have CWL) then you can walk out of the store with the gun. They are required to register the gun under your name when the sale is completed. Even when you order a gun from a different state it must arrive at a Washington gun store to have paperwork filled out and a fee must be paid. If you go to Washington Arms Collectors shows they have swap meets that you dont have to exchange paperwork or anything.

And the pistol looks way better in Person, the website and this picture do not do it justice. The bobtail, the flush mount pin, and all the good stuff just makes it so trick. I love it.

Hope you have better luck with your Kimber than I.

I know a ton of people who have had problems with them as well. The Gold Match II when my dad purchased it had a misaligned feed port and always had nose dive jams, sent it back to NY and got it a month later all fixed with 2 extra free magazines for the trouble. Kimbers are super amazing or a dud in my opinion.

That's a sweet looking Kimber you got there NTP. Congrats:grin::grin:

Look forward to meeting up with you at Smokey Joe's when you turn 21. Let me know. I'll buy you a drink and give you a nice cigar to welcome you there.

Great present choice. 1911s are like cigars my friend... a slippery slope. Very slippery. Congrats.
