Hey, sorry if this should be in a different forum, but this has happened to me occasionally...

I was smoking a GAR Robusto I just got (it was very nice). However, I felt the beginnings of a canker sore on the upper right gum. The last time this happened was several months ago. Under both instances, I had increased the usual rate of my smokes, from one every once in a while to a couple or more a week.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if this should be of some concern to me? The first time, I didn't touch a cigar for about a month...

Many Thanks, Brothers.

I find if I have something like that coming on, drinking smoking and lack of sleep are the things that knock down my resistance. Same goes for a head cold.

More often than not they are brought on by fatigue but there can be other factors. When I was young and single and would go skiing out west for a week, all day everyday for 7 days I usually would wind up with a doozie as my body was totally worn out.

On one trip a friend told me to take L-Lysine when I feel like one is starting and it would take care of it. I was skeptical but I did and the hint of one coming on and it knocked it right out. I Haven't had one in over 30 years now as I keep a bottle in the cupboard and If think one is starting, I take it for a day or 2.

+1 on the Lysine

It's super cheap and available anywhere that sells vitamins. I feel like I'm fighting off cold sores more often than not but I found out about this stuff a few months ago and it works great. Sometimes you can still feel the sore right around your mouth, but it does a great job of keeping them from breaking the surface and being noticeable to the public.

That being said, yes cigars can bring them out (for me at least). If I go a while without smoking then pick one up again, I have to remember to pop a few Lysine pills and I'm good to go.
