Okay, so, the original HC series cigars were all associated with Xikar. Now, the cigars don't mention Xikar in the package at all. Are the new blends basically like the Blancos that CI bought out? I was thinking of picking some up, but I am a bit skeptical. I don't want to pick up some re-blend that has nothing more than the name in common with the old sticks.

Someone sent me some to try a couple years ago. The ones I received where, in my opinion, cheaply made, loosely filled, and yard gars at best. If they are representative of the current production, I wouldn't pay 2 cents for them, and I usually smoke inexpensive cigars. Since a quick search shows them only available at CI, and CI owned companies (like Pipe and Cigars), I'd venture to guess that CI bought them out, like they did with La Perla and others.

I bought a bundle of the xikar hc maduro 2 years ago and thought that they were pretty good for the price, when they went on sale at ci a few months ago I did some research and decided not to order any more. I believe that ci now owns them and they are not the original blend. They may be fine cigars, but I have not had any of the newer ones to give an opinion on.

When I was at the Joya factory in Nica, I saw some HC cigars being banded and boxed. I assume that means they were also rolled at the Joya factory, but I don't know if they were always made at that factory or not. I don't really but HC sticks anymore, but I have had a few in the past and thought they were fine. Neither outstanding nor disgusting.

It seems complicated. The HC Habano2 is credited to AJ Fernandez. The original blends are credited to Jesus Fuego and so are a couple of the bundle smokes that came out. There is no word on where they are rolled or if they are using the Fuego blends still.
