OK. I'm an old fart and I have found these from $29.00 to $199.00. I use Monster Cable on all by sound compenents since the 80's but they show like six different levels of HDMI cable. Of course they say buy the best you can. Any suggestions?

I've never fallen for the Monster Cable hype. I use regular 16 gauge, twsted copper wire for my speakers and they have always sounded just fine. I just purchased some 10' HDMI cables for my new DVD recorder. They use 28 gauge wire, gold plated connectors and cost me $10/ea with shipping. The picture looks great. I doubt that it would look significantly better with $200 Monster cables.

PM me your addy and i'll send you one free of charge. I just switched over from TW Cable to ATT Uverse and they supplied me with one and when I switched out my old TW set top box I switched out the HDMI cables. I just stored it away along with the other 500,000 cables that I have no use for. All I ask is that you cover shipping at $5.25.

Ya know, the great thing about digital signals -vs- analog signals is that high-quality cables are pretty much pointless. As long as a cheap cable has a solid connection and can transmit data bits (0s and 1s) it'll work just as well as the most expensive cable in the world.

So save yourself a ton of money and buy CHEAP HDMI cables.

FWIW, I always buy my cables from Monoprice.com

Monoprice rules. Ditto on what the Electric Sheep said.

Digital signals you either get the signal or don't, so as long as the cable is decent quality and the data goes through its all good.

I will point out 1 negative about buying cheap HDMI cables.....the connectors.
A lot of cheap HDMI cables have subpar connectors that will either partially separate from the rest of the cable or break off altogether based on cheap glue being used (yes, this has happened to me while using cheap HDMI cables for $25). While I agree for the most part that Monster is overpriced, at least that's one thing you don't have to worry about when buying Monster cables :eyebrow:

Another thumbs up for Monoprice.com. I bought a 35ft run of 22ga HDMI cablefor my basement for less than a lot of stores ask for a 6 footer.

All good information. I called the guys at Monster and the guy that custom built my stero cables was still there. The system is an NAD with Definitive Tech towers that ran about 50 feet. EAch speaker is powered by a 1000 watt amp. Cost me a small fortune back in the 90's. They sent a an M series to try on the Blue Ray and I bought an 800 series for the sat connection. Awesome picture on both.
