Pretty silly question since I think I know the answer but...if I have a 42" HDTV, I want to buy any future DVD's (non bluray/HD) in widescreen format, right??

I want to pick up I Am Legend tomorrow but not sure whether to go full screen or widescreen.

I'd say right in any case. I preferred widescreen letterboxed content when I had a 4:3 CRT. Definitely, if you have any HD display device.

Pan-and-scan sucks a bunch of donkey bawls...I've been buying anamorphic widescreen DVDs almost exclusively for about 5 years now, which was well before I had an HDTV.
