Hello,

After a few months I brought my cigars home from Cuba, green stains have occured on them. Here are some pictures:

Any idea what's that?

BTW I use de-ionised water insted of distilled in the humidor, can that be a problem?
And what about these 'polymer gel' humidifiers which I use, are they good? worthpoint.com/worthopedia/perfecstore-gel-travel-humidifier-for-cigars-bulk-1

Thanks,

Dam

Hmm I'd also like to know. I have a few with the greenish blotch also. I wonder if it's bad or just discoloration of the leaf?? Not all the sticks in the same box have them... Just one or two.

Can't see the pictures but my guess would be water spots which are nothing to worry about. Of course without my seeing them that is probably less than useful information.

Welcome, introduce yourself and stick around for a bit. There is a ton of info here.

The green stains on the wrapper are most likely water stains which caused certain areas of the leaf to not dry properly. I would be more worried about what looks to be mold growth along the cigars. (The white fuzzy stuff)

Use distilled water, its cheap so there is no reason not to.

The gel is no good either, use beads or Boveda packets.

Did they APPEAR after a few months?

(unless you're understating the problem and you have a box foll of green mush that used to be cigars)

Cheers!
I just puked a little:hanghead:

Get a hygrometer and keep below 65% with beads , thats a must .

If the green spots are not hairy ,,, :squinteye ,,, fuzzy puffy , but rather stains or light green spots , then they are ok I guess.

Even if you have fuzzy spots but not on the foot , just wipe them off with paper towel dry or with distilled water , dry them a bit then back to the boxes .

Don't get to anal, smoke them .

Chears
