Hello,
My name is Jim. I also answer to Horse. Cigars have been an enjoyment of mine since I was a teen. The first cigar I smoked was at age 16. A friend and I attended the local carnival. We played the game where you hit the lever with a mallet and ring the bell. The carny had a selection of three prizes, one of which was a cigar. My friend and I both chose the cigars. The carny smiled and we were on our way. Being as we were only 16, it felt like we got away with stealing the crown jewels with this score. My parents were out for the evening. Back to my place to fire them up. Not knowing what to do, we played poker and smoked probably the cheapest cigar I will ever know. We thought we were kings. Thus began the passion of cigars.
I have not been what you would call a regular smoker. From when I first started, only a few a year would usually be smoked. These were mainly cheap gas station smokes since we were underage. Around the time I was 19, a friend brought back a box of Monte from his vacation. Yup, that was good and raised the bar for all future smokes. That seems like a lifetime ago. Throughout my 20s I traveled a fair amount and was able to try some very nice smokes while in other countries. Still only smoking maybe a half dozen times a year since then.
In the past two years my interest has grown and I'm now going to have cigars as one of my main hobbies. Watches are another passion of mine. I'm trying many kinds of cigar and trying to nail down what I like and also expand my palate. Trying this in the liquor department with Scotches and Cognac, as well. My new humidor arrived earlier this week. It is being readied for use now. I currently have a box of Partagas Mille Fleur en route that will go into that new 40 count box. Realizing I'm now three paragraphs in, I will end this introduction.
A relaxing day to all,
Horse
